Welcome to Adamsquared.

Welcome! I’m Adam. I’m a senior cloud data engineer based in the UK. I’ve worked in the software industry for over a decade, beginning my cloud computing journey over five years ago.

I work for large organizations, helping them to extract value from operational data that they have collected over many years across a range of disparate source systems. I help collate this data into cloud data platforms and then prepare it for analysis using the latest tools and techniques.

When I’m not crunching data, you can find me buried in a good book, taxiing my kids between endless social events, or doom scrolling on social media feeds.

Navigating the cloud can be challenging. I started this blog with the aim of demystifying the overwhelming array of tools and services on offer and (hopefully) helping others maximize the value they get from the cloud.

Google Cloud Platform is my platform of choice. As a data engineer by trade, GCP offers an excellent suite of fully managed big data tools that enable me to focus on getting on with the task at hand, without worrying about managing any underlying infrastructure.
